Red Bird Bee Block # 3

This is my block for Tonie for the Red Bird Bee.

Tonie is making a Jazz Album Cover Quilt for her husband.
Everyone in the Bee had a choice of different album covers to use for inspiration.
So in the end she will have 12 blocks from 12 different album covers.
Bee members were to use an  interpretive or impressionist method of creating a quilt block.

This was a most interesting and challenging block to make as well as a good learning experience and a stretching of my creativity.

Above is my interpretation of one of the album covers, the George Russell Sextet.

(Since I am no musician, I won't go into the musical details.)
(What I know about music won't even fill the point of that needle that is in your hand.)

I really think that Tonie is going to have a great quilt.
I am looking forward to seeing finished.

Enjoy!

Have a super great sewing and stitching day!

Oooops!!

An Oops! is not always a good thing but...
it was just another example of life getting in the way of life.
I have been distracted by some household upgrades, all necessary but none the less an example of life getting in the way of life.

Stitch Me Up Day # 4

Today is Day # 4 of the Stitch Me Up Embroidery Blog Hop.

And........

I get to show everyone the embroidery project that I made for this fun event.

For the details of this blog hop I need to refer you herehere, and here.
Some lovely, hard working ladies have worked diligently to put this blog hop together.
Many works of praise and thanks go out to these ladies.  Thank you for your great work.
If some of my links don't want to work I will fix them ASAP.

These pictures show the design that I chose to embroider and the embroidery itself.
I used embroidery floss that I had in the stash.
Now I am curious as to how I would have liked the pearl cotton that was offered at the start of this great blog hop.  I have read that it was very nice to work with.

For my borders I used a Mary Engelbreit fabric with lovely tea pots from Quilting Treasures.
Unfortunately I cannot find a direct link to this exact fabric.

Then I added a blue binding with a tiny flange of red caught in the seam for attaching the binding.  For this I used Moda Marbles.

This is the back.

Here is the Stitch Me Up Embroidery Blog Hop list for today.

MONDAY MARCH 25th
