Crayon Challenge

My local quilt guild had a Crayon Challenge.  What is a Crayon Challenge you ask?

While signing up for the Christmas Dinner we each drew a crayon from a paper bag.

I drew...

"Mustard".

We were to make something using that color.  For those that participated the items would be displayed at the Christmas Dinner.  Votes would be cast.  Winners would be drawn.  Sort of a Viewers Choice sort of vote.

Now I am very fond of yellow but this yellow...not so much.

In my stash I had a yellow print with some lovely flowers.  This yellow/mustard color was also in the print as almost a tone on tone.  So I decided this was my best bet.
This looks more like spring than Christmas but...

I made Mug Rugs.
The colors used in the centers are taken from the colors of the flowers, etc. that are in the print.  I did the same for the binding.

Do I like these?  Yes and No.
What do you think?

Enjoy!
Have a super great sewing and stitching day!

Happy Holidays to all!

  1. What a wonderful idea. I'd like to remember that for next year in my Bee. Love your mug rugs.
